HEY!
Well, it's that time of the year again.
Racing season begins THIS FRIDAY, May 9th, at Norway Speedway.
This past Saturday (May 3rd) we had our first practice of the
season. We debuted the new addition to our team, the 1997
Oldsmobile Cutlass. I was very excited to race again. But my
hopes were soon let down as only 4 laps into the practice I
was black flagged for smoke. The team and myself went to work
under the hood and found out it was an oil leak. We tried to
fix it, but later realized it was worse than had originally
anticipated, and figured we would have to pull the motor once
we got home to fix it. But now we are almost ready for the
first race. I hope it goes well.
I am very excited to announce that the Widdis
Racing Team is proud to welcome aboard our new sponsor,
NORTHLAND RACING COLLECTABLES of Escanaba, MI. The
owner/operators of this merchandise store are Wendy and Terry
Hatala. We got in contact with them and wanted to help them
out because not too many people knew of their store, so we
asked if they would like to help us out a little bit too, they
gladly jumped on board. It is a great store ran by great
people.
Also debuting on Saturday was my championship car
from last year with proud new owners Jeff and Dan Dehanke. I
enjoyed very much helping them through their first racing
experience. The excitement in their voices and joy on their
faces made me proud to help open the doors of the wonderful
world of racing to new faces. They also let me have the honor
to take the car out for a few hot laps. That car is still a
wonderful car. It is very fast and still handles well. It was
my first time racing that car at Norway and I had a blast. I
would like to thank Jeff and Dan for letting me have that
experience and I hope they have even MORE fun as the season
progresses.
I very much look forward to the racing debut of
my new car this Friday. I hope everyone can come out and enjoy
the wild world of Friday night short track racing. For more

I would once again like to thank and welcome
aboard Wendy and Terry Hatala and their business NORTHLAND
RACING COLLECTABLES of Escanaba, MI. Hope to see you all on
Friday!
