Manistique, MI - The mere fact that Bret Widdis finished his first race at Norway Speedway is a testament to his great driving ability. Out of the sixteen cars that started the "A Feature" Saturday afternoon at Norway Speedway only seven actually finished to see the checkered flag fly! Amazingly, out of those seven cars two were heavily damaged and had to visit the pit area to get their cars "race ready" once again. The other remaining five cars that finished the race had a considerable amount of damage to their cars!

The afternoon would start off with Widdis qualifying in the middle of the B Feature with a time of 15.053, which is 2 tenths quicker than his average speed last year. He would later go on to finish 6th in the heat race.

The "B Feature" would hold its own against the dominate "A Feature". Widdis narrowly missed four separate wrecks in the feature race. "A Feature" regulars such as Adam Menor, Bruce White, and Scott Stanchina were all pushed back into the "B Feature" race. All three drivers finished in the top 14 in the 2003 Late Model Points Standings at Norway Speedway. Another veteran driver Widdis had to compete against was Allen Yelle, who Widdis edged out to win the 2003 Thunder Valley Raceway Track Championship. Even Adam Menor's time of 14.8 wasn't enough to make it into the "A Feature"! Bret would compete vigorously and come away with a strong 5th place finish.

Widdis' tremendous finishes will give him a quick jump in the points. A top ten and a top five will help Widdis immensely. We here at WiddisRacing.com would like to acknowledge Bret for his terrific first weekend of racing.
