Bret Widdis, driver
of the new Chevrolet Silverado, raced the truck for the first
time on Saturday April 28, 2007, during the United States
Super Truck Series at Lacrosse Speedway in West Salem,
Wisconsin. Widdis Racing was honored as the Silverado was
asked to be featured in the parade of flags during the opening
ceremonies. Widdis started on the outside of the front row for
his heat race. He would lead a couple laps and end up with a
strong top 5 finish. Bret would start the feature race on the
pole. He would lead over half of the race before acquiring a
push.
The push, it was determined, was due to a defective
tire. With only two laps left, Widdis was in third and picking
up steam when a lapped truck’s hood flew off and hit Widdis’
truck. With some great racing and maneuvering, Widdis was able
to keep his truck off the wall and finish the race in 5th
place. Coincidentally, he finished one spot ahead of last
year’s track champion. When asked later in a candid interview
for WiddisRacing.com, Bret replied, “We were very happy with
the results.” From all of us at WiddisRacing.com, we
congratulate Bret on his great weekend.
