Sandy Day at Sands

Sands, MI - There was a lot of sand blown around in Sands, Michigan yesterday. Bret Widdis would feel the pressure coming into the race as he was points leader leading Alan Yelle by only one point!

July 20, 2003 was Mid Season Championships at Thunder Valley Raceway resulting in double points making it even more important for Widdis to have a great run. He would not disappoint.

He would quickly become fast qualifier giving him an edge on Yelle first off.

The heat race would quickly become the best race your humble correspondent has ever seen at Thunder Valley. Yelle would gain a two car length lead over Widdis but Bret would quickly catch Alan and slide up the track next to him. The two would run side-by-side the entire race. Yelle would edge out the young driver coming out of turn 4 on the last lap for the heat win.

Widdis would come back in the feature fighting. He jumped ahead on the first lap and would lead every lap of the feature race including the most important of all, the last!
