Manistique, MI - CBC celebrated its 37th birthday on April 4, 2004. According to the Pioneer Tribune, "The first 'C' in the name stands for the American Cancer Society, the 'B' for Bay Cliff Health Camp, and the final 'C' for Crippled Children, which is now known as Easter Seals." Also according to the article which appeared in the April 1 edition of the Pioneer Tribune, CBC began in a live broadcast from St. Francis de Sales School over WTIQ in 1968. CBC was first broadcasted over the television in 1973.

With all the tradition of CBC over the years comes one man who has been there for it all. Widdis Racing team member, Pete Widdis, was recognized on April 4th for his contribution to CBC over the years. Among other tasks, Pete co-broadcasted the telethon for many years. We here at WiddisRacing.com would like to acknowledge Pete for all his hard work over the years in not only community work such as CBC, but also in Widdis Racing. His hard work and persistence is admirable and respectful to everyone he meets. Congratulations Pete!
